Forgiveness

I am in the process of finishing my book on Forgiveness.  It has been an amazing journey of highs, lows, pain, suffering, clarity, peace, and all the other gifts that God gives us in this journey called life.

Over the last few years as I have been working on learning how to forgive people
and releasing the pain from the past. There have been a few questions that people frequently ask so I thought I would share my responses.
 
Do I have to forgive?  Many times in my life I knew that it was the Christian
thing to forgive but I would often tell myself I'll forgive them but I'll never forget. 
THAT IS NOT FORGIVING
….  In order to have the peace and happiness you deserve in your heart I have found no other way around it but learning the life
skill of forgiveness.

What do you mean about life skill? In my opinion, this is a life skill that you need in life.  I have found a technique that teaches you to look at forgiveness as a teaching and growing tool.  I believe there are four parts to forgiveness:
1. Learning to ask God for forgiveness.
2. Learning to forgive yourself (Eliminating shame, guilt and obligation)
3. Learning to forgive other people  
4. Learning to ask other people for forgiveness.

 How long does it take to see resultsIn my opinion, from utilizing this life skill for the last 2 years when you are ready to forgive it is very quick and you can have a physical response to the release in your body and you feel lighter. 

How do I know if I really have forgiven the person or injustice?  
In my opinion, when you have released the person by forgiveness you can than
recall the things that made you anger, sad, mad or caused you pain and it no longer makes you feel those things.  Instead you don't feel any emotion.  I call this
emotional freedom it is not the same as being emotionally numb. Emotional
freedom feels lighter and you gain more confidence in learning how to navigate through your emotions.

When we live in the past or worry about the future we rob ourselves of living in the present moment which is a gift.  Learning how to forgive allows you to release the
past and make peace with yourself and others so you can live in the moment of life. 

I am not sure when the publication date is for this book but I will be moving forward with teaching the Forgiveness Formula Life Skill in various locations.  If you are interested in attending my workshop or would like to set up a workshop in your community please email me for information.
